YOUTUBE ORIGINALS // LIFE IN A DAY

Background: On July 25th, 2020, people all over the world filmed their lives and shared their stories to be part of a documentary film by Ridley Scott. When all the submissions were tallied, the filmmakers had received over 300,000 videos from 192 countries. The result was a film about love, death, heartbreak, and hope that looks beyond geography and circumstance to explore what connects us as humans. We were tasked with encapsulating the film in a conceptual marketing campaign that would air during the Super Bowl.

The Idea: The film conjured vast amounts of footage from around the world, yet all disparate and disconnected. We needed something to bind them. A song by the Kinks called Strangers talked about different worlds coming together. “Strangers on this road we are on, are not two, we are one.” We loved the metaphor and the sentiment, but wanted to give it a contemporary take. We called upon the talents of the Black Pumas and Lucius who - through their intoxicating vocals - bound the world together for even just a brief moment.
